Weather update of Jonkoping, Sweden

Welcome to WEATHER TODAY!

The temperature for Jonkoping, Sweden is -19 degree celcius at 1700hrs local time. It will further drop by 3 to 8 degree celcius when night falls. Also, it is expected to drop a further 3 to 8 degree celcius if there is wind. This means that if there is wind tonight, temperature can drop to a minimum -35 degree celcius and this is CRAZY! All residents are reminded to try to stay indoors to prevent their ears and noses from dropping into the snow grounds.

The temperature will drop further as the days crawls by. So, take note to wake up earlier to wear many layers of warm clothing. Due to the thick winter wear, you have adopted a new body size, so avoid narrow alleys and paths as you might have encounter trouble going through them.

As winter hits late this year, it will end late too. The crazy winter period is forecasted to persist till april.

All residents are advised to be prepared.

Physically.

it started to snow heavily 2 days ago... and.. it's freezing cold.... me, holding a bar of twix.. haha.. pig..

a nearer picture of my school in the back ground... and my roomie in the fore ground.. haha.. lame..

my school library..

fried rice for dinner..

omelette fried rice that i brought to school to eat..

so amazed with the snow....

trying to catch snow to bring back for you.........!

now... check out the snow....

haha.. look so spastic.. this is the map of the city jonkoping that i am staying in.. and i'm pointing to the place that i am staying at.. this map is on the noticeboard of all the bus stop and next to it is the arrival times of the bus number 3 at this bus stop..

busstop at my accomodation, it's the grashagen centrum stop.. it shows that this bus stop has the green bus and that the next bus is coming in 6 mins. then, the next second one in 27 mins.. the buses here runs on a timetable and almost everyone has a copy of the bus timetable booklet..

the laundry room timetable! You got to book the time that you want to wash your clothes.. the dates are on the top(1,2,3...30,31) and the time at the left hand side.. (0700-1000,...1600-1900).. My favourite spot is the 1600-1900 slot.. cos after that no one use, so dun need to rush to take my clothes..

eleven of us

Sweden looks so beautiful!! But for someone so afraid of the cold I dont think I'll be off to Sweden for exchange (or Canada for the matter. Haha. Not like I can afford an exchange either!)

Celebrated me and Adel's birthday last night at my place. Had a steamboat and grill dinner which went well albeit the occassional awkward silence. Was a little quiet without chatty RouJun, Lixuan and Choy around! But it was ok. Feels like Bee has taken over as leader of the tribe even though she's the youngest. Heh. Adel and I got flour-ed and cream-ed.

Happy 21st Adel.

More birthdays to come.

Choy, Jun and Lixuan, you guys are missing out!

- Jole

Choy-My 1st time in BLOG.. excited & scared

Haha.. never write a blog before.. dun know how to make it interesting and fun.. i dun wanna talk about the unhappy times that i am getting here in sweden, so, i will just tell you guys some interesting stuffs that is here.. found them interesting..

1. Their uni education is free.. and ours cost like $6000 after subsidy.. and the best thing is.... they are paid if they go to school.. every month abt $800... (crazy government.. i mean, provide free education, still give $$ out... no wonder the government getting poorer each day...)

2. The lifts have no door close button... guess only Singaporeans are so eager and rush of time to close the doors and move on...

3. They actually have a mobile plan that pays you abt singapore 10cents for every call you receive... (aiyo.. think of this, if you put a free ad on the newspaper that gives a really good deal like a new car for $10000.. and think of the number of calls you will get.. ($_$) Money!!)

4. Most shops do not give you plastic bags to contain your goods after you bought them.. the plastic bags are not free.. you have to pay for them,. and it's not cheap.. cost like $0.50 for each one.. and they are just like the kinds where you get from NTUC...

5. A normal meal in school canteen costs abt $12.50!! and the swedish students think it's cheap.. (siao... think they will get a damn good life if they go to other countries.. especially thailand.. maybe to them, spending in Thailand is by cents...)

6. Ok, their currency is in ores and kroners. Equilvalent to our cents and dollars. Then, you see many items selling for $17.90, $5.90 etc... and it's bluff pple one... cos their smallest denomination in coins is 50 ores.. so, they can't give you back the change in $0.10. which means, the items actual price is $18, $6... ( i mean,.. what's the point right..? just put $18 lah... or, the government should consider producing 10 ores at least?)

7. Their bottled drinks.. are priced at $5 + $0.50.. which is $5.50.. and the $0.50 is for the plastic bottle where you can get the $0.50 back if you bring back the bottle to the shop... (maybe can start to be a garbage girl to pick up empty bottles to earn a living..)

Ok.. enough.. hope i dun bore you.. hmm... can keep this active..? and add entries and check out others entries often..(like mine)... i really love to know the on-goings in your lives too...

bolognese.. in bowls.. that we brought over..

bolognese.. in the rice cooker that i desperately trying to carry over...

down jackets, bags, shoes, slippers, hats, scarfs, gloves.. things to put on before going out.... so many barangs barangs to put on.. lei ah..

the kitchen..

The book shelf.. not filled with books.. but with food.. brought over from singapore..

Another picture of the town.. no snow.. so.. not slippery.. and not as pretty as the pictures taken by Roujun and Xuan..
